The yarn used in the weave of an afghan photo blanket is the same yarn thickness both in horizontal and vertical directions. On the other hand, a tapestry photo blanket uses a yarn of two different diameters. In a tapestry photo blanket the color strands of yarn are combined in different ways re-creating the photo and the actual colors in as accurately as possible.
A knitted photo blanket, on the other hand, is made by a machine that uses a similar scanning and pattern process but rather than weave the yarns together it knits them together using a looping technique. Knitted photo blankets have limited colors due to the actual knitting process and the continuous thread forming loops involved in the process. The resolution of a knitted photo throw is, as a result, not as sharp as a personalized woven throw.
